The Push for Daily Sunscreen
New guidelines by the Food and Drug Administration aim to protect consumers from skin cancer through greater testing and clearer labeling on sun-protection products, including cosmetics with sunscreen. The guidelines take effect June 18, though it will take time to clear out-dated products from store shelves.
More than two million people are diagnosed with skin cancer each year, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation. The incidence of melanoma, the most dangerous form, continues to rise in most age groups in the U.S.

Reem Kaiser Tadros, M.D.
Dr. Tadros' compassion has made her develop a special outlook toward her patients. She credits Dr. Wade Smith, one of her oncology attending physicians at her alma mater, the Medical College of Virginia, for instilling his philosophy that 'a doctor needs more than a stethoscope to listen to his or her patient's heart.' "I want to make a difference in people's lives" she explains whether in improving a teen's self esteem by clearing his or her acne, or removing a skin cancer or a dangerous mole that may have gone unnoticed.
Rolla Jaber, M.D.
One of the things Dr. Jaber enjoys most about dermatology is the opportunity to help a diverse group of people in a variety of ways, whether soothing an infant's eczema or providing resolve and maybe even a self-esteem boost to an acne-prone teenager, to giving a means of relief to a grandparent with skin cancer. Her love for helping others isn't limited to office hours only. As a member of the Fair Oaks community, Dr. Jaber has made it her goal to involve herself with local schools and youth groups to educate kids and parents on the importance of sun protection and safe sun practices, especially at an early age.
