BOTOX® (Botulinum Toxin Type A) is injected into a muscle group (forehead, crows feet and between the eyes) to stop a muscle from contracting. This contracting, over a long period of time, results in a wrinkle. BOTOX® Cosmetic works by binding the enzyme between the muscle and the nerve, which does not allow the muscle to contract; therefore, the cause for the wrinkle is no longer present. Because BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments are not a permanent solution, follow up treatments are necessary.
